The method involves determining a slip value that represents an instantaneous slip between rear and front axles (23, 31) of a motor vehicle or between wheels (21, 29). An absolute value of the slip value is formed, and the absolute value or a substitute value derived from the absolute value is added to a last-formed slip sum value to form an instantaneous slip sum value. The instantaneous slip sum value is compared with a slip sum threshold value, and a control signal for actuating couplings (16, 24, 32) is generated if the instantaneous value reaches or exceeds the slip sum threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a powertrain of a motor vehicle. |
