The invention relates to a device (1) for generating a volume work which can be driven by a swellable substance (9), preferably for a delivery device for delivering a medicinal active substance, with a swellable substance chamber (10) of variable volume which is filled with a swellable substance (9) and can be brought into a flow connection with a liquid reservoir (9) of variable volume. According to the invention, before initiation of the swelling operation the flow connection between the liquid reservoir (3) and swellable substance chamber (10) is interrupted by at least one barrier (6, 24) which opens when a predetermined opening pressure arises at the barrier (6, 24). It is furthermore intended that the wall of the liquid reservoir (3) is bag-like, and in particular is of a construction which is flexibly limp but has little extensibility. |
