<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition having a frictional force on ice and wear resistance superior to those by a conventional technique, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition is obtained by compounding 20-70 pts.mass of at least one kind of fillers selected from the group consisting of carbon black and a white filler, and 1-30 pts.mass of a polyethylene oxide having ≥100,000 of a viscosity-averaged molecular weight Mv, with 100 pts.mass of a diene rubber.
