<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir joint apparatus capable of suppressing insertion or an inserting speed of a joint tool in offset operation while reducing a joint time; and a friction stir joint method using the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: After a push-in operation of driving a pressing shaft 2 while rotating a joint tool 1 to press a tool pin 1c at the tip of the joint tool against the surface of a work W to insert the tool pin 1c to a predetermined depth is performed, an offset operation of moving the joint tool along the surface of the work W while rotating the joint tool 1 is performed.
