This projection display device is provided with a plurality of lamps (6) that emit light, and a reflecting element (8), which is provided corresponding to at least one of the lamps (6), and which reflects light emitted from a corresponding lamp (6) and changes the travelling direction of the light. The projection display device is also provided with a collimating lens (3), which converts the light transmitted from the reflecting element (8) or the light transmitted from the lamp (6) into parallel light and outputs the parallel light, and a light pipe (7), which has a hollow columnar shape, and which reflects, by the inner surface, light inputted from a light input port, and outputs the reflected light from a light output port. Furthermore, the projection display device is provided with a light collecting lens (4), which collects the parallel light outputted from the collimating lens (3) toward the light input port of the light pipe (7).
