METHOD FOR DETERMINING FROST RESISTANCE OF ROSES

A method for determining the frost resistance of roses comprises selecting annual shoots, determining the starch content in the tissues of the shoots, assessing the frost resistance depending on the dynamics of the starch content. The shoots are doubly selected in the autumn period: during the maximum starch accumulation and during starch hydrolysis in the tissues of shoots of the roses while preparing the plants to wintering, quantitative measuring of the starch content is carried out according to optical density, the frost resistant index is calculated.
