The present invention relates to a method for displaying operating states of devices of a vehicle (1), wherein at least one operating parameter of the vehicle (1) or of a vehicle device (13) is detected, the value of the detected operating parameter is displayed in a first display area (3) arranged in the interior of the vehicle (1) by means of an arcuate scale (15), wherein an inner area (14) is defined by the arcuate scale (15) in the first display area (3), display elements (17, 18) of further vehicle devices (13) being displayed in the inner area (14) of the first display area (3), wherein an operable state, in which the vehicle devices (13) associated with the display elements (17, 18) can be directly operated by means of an operating device (8), and an inoperable state, in which the vehicle devices (13) associated with the display elements (17, 18) cannot be directly operated by means of the operating device (8), are associated with the display elements (17, 18), and the inner area (14) is divided into a first region (14-1) and a second region (14-2), and the display elements (18) in the operable state are displayed in the first region (14-1) and the display elements (17) in the inoperable state are displayed in the second region (14-2). The invention further relates to a device for carrying out said method.
