<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and improved secondary battery having reduced volume of a void, which can avoid breakage of an electrode assembly when dropped and impacted. <P>SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, a cap plate sealing an opening in the case, and electrode terminals extending through the cap plate at opposite ends of the cap plate.
