PURPOSE: An outer cover material for a vacuum insulator and the vacuum insulator are provided to eliminate factors for inhibiting the vacuum degree of a vacuum insulator by bonding at least two metal coating layers based on vacuum adhesive of low gas permeability. CONSTITUTION: A vacuum insulator includes an internal structure, filler, and an outer cover material. The hollow space of the internal structure is filled with the filler. The outer cover material surrounds the internal structure and the filler. The outer cover material includes a plurality of metal coating layers and polymer layers(131, 132). The metal coating layers are bonded based on vacuum adhesive(108). The polymer layers are formed at the outer lateral side of the outermost metal coating layer(106a) and the inner lateral side of the innermost metal coating layer(106b).
