<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption type front underrun protector that has a function combining underrun protection with impact energy absorption performance which are adaptable to vehicles of various car models. <P>SOLUTION: A front underrun protector (FUP) 10 includes FUP bar mounting brackets 11 fixed to a chassis frame 1 of the vehicle and an FUP bar 12 fastened to the FUP bar mounting bracket 11 so as to extend in the vehicle width direction. The crushing load of the FUP bar 12 is set to be lower than plastic deformation load of the FUP bar mounting bracket 11 in order that the FUP bar 12 is crushed with a load lower than the plastic deformation load of the FUP mounting bracket 11 to thereby absorb the impact energy when the FUP bar 12 receives impact upon collision with other vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
