The method involves removing a wire wrap on a stripping comb by supplying current to ends of the wire wrap and heating i.e. melting, the ends of the wire wrap using an energy input device, laser, gas flame or a unwinding or separation process. A wire with the wire wrap is lifted on a guide roller using the comb, where a stripper e.g. asbestos and silicate cord, is wrapped around the wire. The wire wrap is coated with abrasion resistant, insulating ceramic layer. The wire wrap is exchanged by an additional pad-stripping press that is arranged behind the stripping comb.
