PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitting device, transmitting method, receiving device and receiving method, capable of obtaining accurate synchronization timing even in a multipath fading environment.

SOLUTION: A transmitting device for transmitting a signal obtained by converting a transmission data sequence to a frequency domain and converting the resulting signal to a time domain, comprises a preamble pattern generating section and a transmitting section. The preamble pattern generating section outputs at least two preamble patterns of a first preamble pattern, and second and third preamble patterns respectively including a bit string in which each bit of the first preamble pattern is continued by n (n is an integer of 2 or more) bits and a bit string in which each bit of the first preamble pattern is continued by k (k is not equal to n and is an integer of 2 or more) bits. The transmitting section transmits the transmission signal including the at least two preamble patterns outputted from the preamble pattern generating section.
