<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bumper stay, with which a collision load is effectively absorbed even when the forms of the vehicle collision are different. <P>SOLUTION: A shock absorbing body 11 has a polygonal cylinder shape, and a plurality of sides (side 12a, side 12b, side 13a and side 13b) constituting the cross-sectional shape of the outer peripheral surface are formed to have nearly the same length.
