PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing styraxlignolide A or aglucone thereof is provided to reduce body weight and to relieve hypersensitivity of airway. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating asthma contains styraxlignolide A compound, aglucone thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The styraxlignolide A compound is denoted by chemical formula 1. The aglucone is homoegonol of chemical formula 2. A health food composition for preventing and treating asthma contains styraxlignolide A compound, glucone thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient.
