摘要 The object of the present invention is to provide an improved method of heating/cooling in a regenerative heat exchanger (RHEX). Thus according to the principle of the invention disturbance elements are located in the channels in such a manner the amount of material in the RHEX can be reduced. The disturbance elements are positioned close to the ends of the channel and a large portion of the centre of channel (axial centre) is free of elements. The starting position for the elements inside the channels shall be of about half of the length of the transfer zone in a channel free of elements. The transfer zone is the zone in which the gas temperature is transferred from a hot temperature to cold temperature or vice verse. The function of the elements is to locally downstream the elements increase the rate of heat transfer between the flowing gas and the walls in the channels. This increase of heat transfer enables a possible reduction of the length of the cannels without a loss of efficiency of a RHEX. Due to the fact that the elements are introduced on a limited axial length of the channel is the effect of the pressure drop for the flow over the elements minimized.
