The method involves gradually lowering control voltage of injection valves (56, 58) at a reference value of the control voltage. Injection quantity of the injection valves is decreased in a nonlinear manner. Measure of reduction of the injection quantity in relation to lowering of the control voltage is utilized in order to determine deviation of the adjusted reference value of the control voltage from actual voltage requirement of the injection valves. The voltage requirement of the injection valves are monitored and adjusted. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for determining control voltage of a piezoelectric actuator of an injection valve.
