PURPOSE: A device for measuring roll error and a method thereof for measuring the roll errors are provided to reduce costs required for establishing equipment without comprising a separate expensive reference surface. CONSTITUTION: A device for measuring roll error comprises a fixing frames(120) and two pairs of gap sensors(A,B,C,D). The gap sensors are mounted in the fixing frame, thereby measuring roll errors of a measurement surface while moving relatively to the measurement surface of a measurement object. The fixing roll is formed in to a square shape. Each gap sensor is joined to each edge portions of the fixing roll.
