An ECU executes a program containing: a step (S108) for performing a low-load control if the engine is not allowed to stop (No in S104) when an operation to turn off an ignition is performed (Yes in S100) and the vehicle is traveling (Yes in S102); a step (S110) for performing a gate blocking control; a step (S118) for stopping the low-load control and the gate blocking control when the brake pedal is operated (Yes in S112) and the vehicle speed (V) is slower than a threshold value (V(2)) (Yes in S114), or when a predetermined time had elapsed since the operation to turn off the ignition was performed (Yes in S116); a step (120) for allowing the engine to stop; and a step (S106) for performing a fuel cut control.
