<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving bank note storage mechanism capable of increasing the number of bank notes stored. <P>SOLUTION: A bank note storage mechanism includes: a bank note reception unit for receiving a bank note inserted by a user; a temporary retention unit having an open/close mechanism for dropping the bank note from a bottom face and temporarily retaining the bank note received by the bank note reception unit; a conveyance path for conveying the bank note from the bank note reception unit to the temporary retention unit; a bank note cassette placed below the open/close mechanism and having plural rows of storage units for collecting and storing the bank note dropped by the open/close mechanism; a slide mechanism for moving the temporary retention unit in such a direction as to straddle the storage units; and a control unit for, when the bank note conveyed on the conveyance path is retained in the temporary retention unit, moving the temporary retention unit above the respective storage units by the slide mechanism and controlling the open/close mechanism to be in an open state to store the bank note in the bank note cassette. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
