<p>A plasma display panel comprises a front face plate and a back face plate provided opposite the front face plate. The front face plate has a display region that generates an electrical discharge between the front face plate and the back face plate, and a non-display region provided at the periphery of the display region. The front face plate also has a first electrode and a second electrode that is parallel to the first electrode. An electrical discharge gap is provided between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode has a first transparent electrode and a first bus electrode provided on the first transparent electrode. The second electrode has a second transparent electrode and a second bus electrode provided on the second transparent electrode. The first transparent electrode contains a first base section and a plurality of first protruding sections that protrude from the first base section towards the electrical discharge gap. The second transparent electrode contains a second base section and a plurality of second protruding sections that protrude from the second base section towards the electrical discharge gap. The electrical discharge gap in the non-display region is larger than the electrical discharge gap in the display region.</p>
