A controllable-pitch marine propeller 1 is mounted on a flange 3 integral with a tailshaft 4 which is made short enough to clear the stern frame when the shaft is withdrawn after the removal of the propeller from the flange. The tailshaft is connected to the main shafting 7 by a releasable coupling comprising a flanged coupling piece 8 bolted to a flange 9 on the shafting 7 and keyed to and secured over the conical endsection 10 of the tailshaft by a nut 11 screwed to the end of the latter and located in a recess 12 in the coupling piece.</p> |
