683,331. Batteries. ALKALINE BATTERIES, Ltd. Aug. 16, 1951 [Aug. 30, 1950], No. 21411/50. Class 53. A charging stand for accumulators comprises vertical steel members a, b shrouded by insulating pillars R and to which the charging current is supplied. Horizontal steel girders c are electrically connected at one end to the member a and supported at the other end by supports e mounted on the corresponding pillar R. A second set of girders d are connected to the upright b and supported on the pillar U at the other end. As shown in Fig. 2 the girders d are connected through bolts i to spring contacts g carried by insulating shelves f secured to the girders. Similar contacts fh shown in Fig. 1 are connected through ammeters k to the girders c. The batteries m to be charged are suspended below the shelves f with their contacts engaging the contacts g, h. Fig. 4 shows a method of suspending the batteries in which a bent metal rod p engages a groove s in the front face t of the shelf f, the rear loop of the rod passing over the horizontal face of the shelf. Grooves o in the sides of the battery engage the horizontal parts of the rod p, collars q on the rod limiting the movement of the battery as it is slid into position along the said parts.
