PURPOSE:To obtain an air cell, which has a small internal resistance and is suitable for large- current electric-discharge, by using a metal net as a current collecting body for an air electrode, joining an active electrode and a sheet member together by pressure, and sticking a nonwoven fabric to the active electrode. CONSTITUTION:An air supply hole 2 is provided in the bottom of a positive can also serving as a positive terminal. A metal net 6 prepared by connecting the intersectional parts 4 of metallic wires by means of nickel layers 5, is used as a current collecting body. A sheet-like active electrode 7 consisting of 70 parts active carbon and 30 parts pulverized PTFE powder, and a porous sheet member 8 consisting of 70 parts pulverized PTFE powder and 30 parts carbon are joined together by pressure, with the above current collecting body interposed between the electrode 7 and the member 8. Next, a separator 9 made of a nonwoven fabric is fixed to the active electrode 7 by means of a lyophilic adhesive. Then, thus formed unified body is punched into a circular shape so that its circumference electrically touches the inner wall of the positive can 1, and the circular body is inserted into the positive can 1 on which a diffusion paper 10 is laid. Next, the circumference part of the air electrode is made is contact with the inner wall of the can 1 by pressure, and electrolyte is poured into a separator 9. After that, a sealing plate 13, into which a negative electrode 12 is packed and to which a gasket 11 made of nylon or the like is attached, is attached to the positive can 1, and the end part of the can 1 is inwardly curled so as to seal the battery. |
