<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffering and sound absorbing material which has light weight and excellent shock/sound absorbency, can be easily formed into a predetermined shape, and can be made thinner. <P>SOLUTION: A buffering and sound absorbing material 1 includes a core material 2 where bottomless recessed parts 2A are formed in a proportion ranging 40-500 pieces/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>.
