<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control device and a display control method capable of improving convenience in operating an object in a touch panel type display device. <P>SOLUTION: A display control device of an embodiment includes area determination means, direction determination means, and display control means. In a touch panel having input coordinates corresponding to display coordinates of a display, the area determination means determines whether at least a part of a contact area with which a contact object is brought into contact is within a predetermined area provided inside a display area for displaying an object itself displayed on the display. The direction determination means determines a movement direction of the contact area.
