PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of capacity at an early stage by a deep charge and discharge cycle in a lead acid storage battery which uses a positive electrode plate in which an active material is filled into a lead-calcium alloy grid which does not contain antimony. SOLUTION: The ratio P/Q of an active material quantity P (g/cm<SP>2</SP>) per unit area of a sheet of the positive electrode plate and porosity Q (%) of the active material is made 0.01-0.013.
