METHOD FOR PROTECTING THE DIGITAL CONTENTS BETWEEN PLAYER AND CARTRIDGES

PURPOSE: A digital contents protection method between a player and a cartridge is provided to perform mutual authentication based on a smart card, thereby authenticating digital contents by using the cartridge as a medium without an authentication server. CONSTITUTION: A cartridge stores a public/ a private keys of the cartridge, a public key of a player, and a password generated by using a master key pair and the public key of the cartridge in a smart card installed in the cartridge and stores encoded digital contents and an encoding key in a storage space of the cartridge. An encoded authentication request message is generated from the password, a session key and the public key of the cartridge by using the public key of the player(410). The cartridge transmits the authentication request message to the player.
