PURPOSE: A method for preventing harmful arthropods is provided to effective prevent the arthropods without a pressurizing process or heating process(smoking process). CONSTITUTION: A composition of preventing harmful arthropods contains one or more kinds of ester compounds of chemical formulas 1-5. A method for preventing harmful arthropods comprises a step of spraying effective amount of a composition to the arthropod habitat by an electrostatic way. The electric resistance of the composition is 1 x 103 ohm m to 1 x 106 ohm m at 20 Deg. C. The surface tension of the composition is 20 mN/m to 40 mN/m at 20 Deg. C. The contains a compound selected from polyol with one or more hydroxyl groups per one molecule, one or more hydroxyl groups per one molecule, 1-methoxy-2-propanol acetic acid ester, 1-butoxy-2-propanol, 1-propoxy-2-acetoxypropan, or oxybis(methoxy)propan; and a dispersion medium.
