A driver protection apparatus by using an adaptive energy absorbing column and a dual stage airbag is provided to protect a driver more effectively in case of a car accident by including a sensor for measuring a shock energy absorbing level and using the adaptive energy absorbing column and the dual stage airbag. A driver protection apparatus by using an adaptive energy absorbing column and a dual stage airbag comprises a variable shock energy absorbing structure, a dual stage airbag(480) and an electronic control unit(ECU)(470). The adaptive energy absorbing structure varies resistance load of a steering device in case of car collision according to collision circumstances. Expansion strength of the dual stage airbag is controlled by collision strength. The ECU controls the adaptive energy absorbing structure and the dual stage airbags by using an actuator and controls so as to optimally absorb shock energy according to a driver and a car driving state. |
