Provided is an excellent user-friendly air conditioner including: a plurality of compressors which are driven by a self-start synchronous motor; and a control unit which calculates an air conditioning load and controls the number of compressors to be operated according to the load. The control unit has an operation time detection unit for detecting the operation time of the compressors and a temperature detection unit for detecting the temperature of the motor. The method for starting and terminating the compressor operation is decided according to the operation time and the temperature of the motor so as to avoid a function lowering of the motor caused by demagnetization against a current upon a start and during an operation, thereby minimizing the affect of the air conditioning ability lowering to the pleasant state. Furthermore, an outdoor unit and other information terminal have a display function for displaying the control information. |
