PURPOSE: An image processing device and a method thereof are provided to sample indirection illumination by VAL, thereby drastically increasing rendering quality. CONSTITUTION: A first calculation unit(120) projects at least one VAL(Virtual Area Light) sampled in a 3D model at N viewing points respectively. A second calculation unit(130) calculates a first coefficient set by projecting a reflective shadow map generated by a first base group. The second calculation unit calculates a second coefficient set by projecting the BRDF(Bidirectional Reflection Distribute Function) of a first point onto the first base group. A third calculation unit(140) calculates influence of at least one VAL about the first point by using the first and second coefficient sets.
