PURPOSE: A method for preparing flavanone compounds and a cosmetic composition manufactured by the same are provided to suppress MMP-1 and melanogenesis. CONSTITUTION: Salvia plebeia extract contains at least one among 3',5',5,7-tetrahydroxy-6-methoxyflavanone, 3',5',5,6-tetrahydroxy-7-O-beta-D-glucoseflavanone, and 3',5',5-trihydroxy-6-methoxy-7-O-beta-D-glucoseflavanone. A cosmetic composition for anti-aging, anti-wrinkling, skin whitening, and anti-inflammatory or anti-bacteria contains 0.000001-30 wt% of the Salvia plebeia extract. A method for preparing the extract comprises a step of adding alcohol to Salvia plebeian, stirring, and decompressing.
