Fluorinated toothbrush bristle and method of making same

Toothbrush bristles of nylon or other waterabsorbent plastic are impregnated with a water soluble fluoride and a humectant. Preferably, stannous fluoride and glycerine are dissolved in water and a bundle of filaments immersed therein at room temperature, rinsed in water and dried. Other fluorides referred to are phenyl stannous fluoride and benzalkonium fluoride. Other humectants are propylene and polyethylene glycols.
