PURPOSE: An array substrate for an FFS(Fringe Field Switching) liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to check whether a short-circuit occurs between a common line and a gate line. CONSTITUTION: A common line(103b) is formed on a sub pixel area of a substrate. A sub common line(105c) is parallel with a gate line(106). A thin film transistor is formed on a portion where the gate line crosses a data line(117a). A protective film exposes the thin film transistor and the sub common line to the outside respectively. Pixel electrodes(127a) and common electrodes(127b) are connected to the thin film transistor and the sub common line respectively.
