<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce influences of deterioration of an S/N ratio and background focusing when illuminance is low or when a subject has a low contrast, and improve focusing accuracy even in an error is included in a range-finding result and an estimated distance. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: determining a reference position from a focusing position of a focus lens based on a signal output in a first focus detection area, and a position of a focus lens corresponding to a subject distance which has been estimated in a distance estimation step; collating the reference position and selecting a focus detection area; moving the focus lens based on the signal output in the focus detection area; and thereby performing focus adjustment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
