The method involves assigning an injector nozzle (10) to a cylinder (12) of an internal combustion engine (8) so that actual values of a time parameter of an already accomplished fuel injection are restored in a control device (4). An angular position of a supplementary fuel injection is adjusted for a supplementary injection process based on the restored actual values. A difference between the actual values and a target value of the time parameter is fed back. One of the actual values of controlled starting is restored as the time parameter. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for operating an injector nozzle of a fuel injection system.
