<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus in which, when a reading unit is moved below a guide body arranged between a platen glass and a contact glass, the reading unit has no need to be moved over the guide body to reduce damage to the reading unit due to contact with the guide body. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus includes a guide body 20, and a reading unit 30. A seal piece 27 constituting the guide body 20 is formed separately from a guide core 25 and a guide piece 26, and only the seal piece 27 is moved in a sub scanning direction according to the movement of the reading unit 30 from a placed document reading position to a carried document reading position. Accordingly, the seal piece 27 formed in a movable manner allows the reading unit 30 to be moved from the placed document reading position to the carried document reading position or from the carried document reading position to the placed document reading position without the need that the reading unit 30 is moved over the seal piece, thereby reducing damage to the reading unit 30. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
