<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image encoder capable of solving the problem that an improvement method of motion search whose objective is to reduce a process amount in a total search method has a local solution problem interfering with improvement of picture quality and that the local solution problem is predicted to become further serious accompanying higher resolution of video content. <P>SOLUTION: A motion vector is searched in an enlarged region including a region to be encoded which is a region within an image to be encoded, and being larger than the region to be encoded. Based on the search result, a search start point of the motion vector in the region to be encoded is decided. A search for a motion vector in the region to be encoded is performed from the decided search start point, and based on the search result, inter-screen prediction of the object image is performed, and the object image is encoded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
