ANIMAL MONITORING AT A ROTARY PLATFORM

A method or apparatus for preventing accidental injury to animals which are treated on a movable animal treatment platform apparatus (1) having animal stalls (12) arranged about a platform (14) periphery, the platform apparatus further being provided with an entrance arrangement (2) and an exit arrangement (3) and a platform control system (27), the method or apparatus being established for registering the presence of an identified animal at a given stall on said platform and further registering the passage of each animal at an exit check point (6) located at a platform exit arrangement, wherein further rotational movement of said platform is prevented if, at the expiry of an exit time period for a relevant animal, the said animal has not been identified at said exit check point. There may additionally be provided means for generating an alarm signal in case an animal has not left the platform as expected or there may be provided means for temporarily immobilising the platform until an animal's exit has been confirmed.
