PURPOSE: An originating call processing apparatus of a portable terminal and method thereof are provided to offer convenience to a user by enabling the user to skip a memo or a telephone number editing process for inputting a national number in international roaming states. CONSTITUTION: A GPS(Global Positioning System) reception unit(170) receives the current location data of a portable terminal. A control unit(110) adds a local code or a national code corresponding to location data received through the GPS reception uni to an inputted telephone number while automatically turning on or off the GPS reception unit. The control unit controls the originating call of the portable terminal. A display unit(160) automatically display the added local number or the national number with the telephone number inputted to the originating call.
