PURPOSE: A stereoscopic image display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the vertical angle of view of a stereoscopic image display by forming a polarizing plate and a patterned retarder in a substrate. CONSTITUTION: A stereoscopic image display(200) comprises a display panel(210), a first polarizing plate(230), a patterned retarder(250), and polarizing glasses(280). The display panel is formed of a liquid crystal display panel, a field emission display panel, a plasma display panel, or an electroluminescent panel. The patterned retarder and the polarizing glasses spatially separate left- and right-eye images to obtain binocular parallax. The first polarizing plate is formed of an analyzer attached to the top plate of the display panel. The patterned retarder has first and second retarder patterns which are alternately arranged line by line. |
