This dye-sensitized photoelectric conversion element has a structure provided with an electrolyte layer between a porous electrode and a counter electrode, and a photosensitized dye is bonded to the porous electrode. For the photosensitized dye, a dye having carboxy groups and thiophene as functional groups and, as a ligand, a ruthenium polypyridine complex having a -NCS group in which a 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine group is substituted for the -NCS group is used.
