<p>A deep-sea tubular conduit 10 for use in conveying fluids of small molecular size comprising a tubular internal layer of PEEK material 12 surrounded by a tubular layer of reinforcement material 14. This is such that a degree of relative slippage or sliding between those layers is enabled when the conduit is subject to internal pressure. The conduit further comprises an internal-pressure-resistant tubular layer 16 surrounding the tubular layer of reinforcement material. A second invention includes a pre-stressed deep-sea conduit where a PEEK layer and a reinforcement layer have been pre-stressed beyond their elastic limit. A third invention is a method of manufacturing a deep-sea tubular conduit comprising the steps of extruding a tubular layer of reinforcement material on a tubular internal layer of PEEK material in such a fashion that a degree of slippage or sliding between those layers is enabled when the conduit is subjected to pressure.</p> |
