The device (1) has an indication element (3) arranged in an area of a road (2) and perceptible to a driver. The indication element provides indication to the driver in dependent of a position of a vehicle (4), where the indication represents whether a traffic light device (5) is passed before switching over into a next traffic light phase under consideration of maximum speed permissible on a section of the road. The indication element is arranged at a defined distance (A) to the light device and formed as a mark on or adjacent to a road mounted signal line or a signal strip. The indication element is designed as a placard or a signal pillar.
