The link has legs (2,2.1) connecting the arched portions (3,3.1) in sheet halves flat contact surface (11.1) in relative to the central longitudinal plane of the chain link (1). The chain link has arrow-shaped converging bow surfaces (10,10.1) in cross section in the longitudinal direction. The bow surfaces have a straight abutment portion for engaging the thrust edge of the tooth of a chain wheel in a cross sectional view. An independent claim is included for assembly of horizontal chain link and chain wheel drivable steel link chain.
