<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation input device in which, when a human body gets proximate unexpectedly, an operation guide screen or the like is prevented from being displayed. <P>SOLUTION: A control section 3 of an operation input device M is configured to automatically detect that a finger or hand gets proximate through a proximity detection section 2 and to determine whether the finger or hand gets proximate for the operation of displaying an operation guide screen that is displayed on a display section 1.
