<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a situation that a printing job-inputting frequency is high such as a situation that the subsequent printing jobs are intermittently inputted right after the current printing job is finished. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus starts a printing process in response to inputting of a printing job, predicts a subsequent printing job inputting time T that is a period of time until the subsequent printing job is inputted after the current printing job is finished, and performs the printing job. Then, the image forming apparatus calculates power consumption W1, in which a printing state is maintained until the subsequent printing job inputting time T without stopping the printing process after the finish of the printing job, and power consumption W2 during a process that the printing process is started again after the lapse of the subsequent printing job inputting time T after stopping the printing process after the finish of the printing job, and compares the power consumption W1 with the power consumption W2. When being W1<W2, the printing state is maintained within the range of the subsequent printing inputting time T without stopping the printing process even after the printing job is finished. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
