<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of reducing the metal content of a fluid inexpensively and efficiently in short operating hours, and the fluid whose metal content is reduced by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The metal content of a fluid is reduced inexpensively and in short operating hours by including the steps of: mixing a powdered ion exchange resin with the fluid; stirring the mixture; and separating the powdered ion exchange resin from the mixture. The ion exchange resin preferably has an average particle size of 0.5-10 μm. The specific gravity difference between the ion exchange resin and the fluid is preferably 0.05-10 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>.
