A template for forming a strip of sheet material into tubular shape comprises a plurality of plate-like parts 1, 2, 3 which together form three sides of a channel 13 having inlet and outlet ends, the parts having inclined end surfaces at the inlet end of the channel for guiding and forming the strip into tubular shape during movement thereof toward and through the channel, and a pair of guide members 27, 28 extending toward each other from opposite sides of and over the channel at the fourth side of the channel for applying the longitudinal edge portions of the strip upon each other. The members 27, 28 are constituted by adjustable rods, and a tubular mandrel 31 may be disposed within the channel, the strip of sheet material traversing the gap between the mandrel and the channel formed by the parts 1, 2, 3. The template may be of metal or a plastic, and be cast in one piece. |
