Provided is an aerial ultrasonic sensor having a simple configuration and in which it is possible to easily change the settings for output sound pressure (ultrasonic propagated distance) to match the intended use, installation site, or the like. An aerial ultrasonic sensor (10) provided with a closed-end cylindrical case (1) having an opening on one end in the axial direction thereof and a floor surface on the other end thereof, and a piezoelectric vibrator (2) affixed to the inside floor surface of the closed-end cylindrical case, the aerial ultrasonic sensor (10) being further provided with an open-end cylindrical case (5) having an opening on both ends in the axial direction thereof, and a thin-film (4) affixed to the opening on one end of the open-end cylindrical case. Furthermore, the open-end cylindrical case (5) engages with the closed-end cylindrical case (1), and has a configuration capable of movement along the sidewall (1a) of the closed-end cylindrical case.
